Sleeping Bags
Considerations for choosing and using a sleeping bag:
• Women and cold sleepers should choose a bag that is 5 degrees warmer than the comfort rating for the area they are travelling to
• Always insulate yourself from the ground properly, using a bonded mat or high density closed cell foam
• You sleep colder after consuming alcohol and warmer after a good meal
• After a day of high physical activity you sleep colder than you normally would
• Always choose a sleeping bag which is close to your actual body size
• You lose 60% of your body’s heat from your neck and head, so ensure you choose a sleeping bag with a good hood, neck collar and draw cords
• Never drape anything over your sleeping bag to increase the warmth, as this compresses the fibres and actually makes the sleeping bag less efficient (if cold, put on some more clothes!)
Camper style sleeping bags of the same model can be zipped together when fully opened out.
Hooded style sleeping bags can be zipped together when combining a LH and RH of the same model.
